IBM Current 1.00 is a very useful Personal Information Manager designed for Microsoft Window 2.x. It contains a calendar, address book, phone dialer, outliner, text editor and can create Gantt charts for project tracking. It is highly customizable, and acts as a database where you can create categories with custom fields, custom entry form layouts, and even "connect" related fields between categories. On top of that, it features built in topic and context-sensitive help.
It is notable for being one of the first Personal Information Managers for Microsoft windows.
This version is designed for use under Windows 2.x and includes a Windows 2.11 runtime. It is not 100% compatible with Windows 3.0 or later, as it displays a warning that Windows 3.0 should run in Real Mode.
In 1990 Version 1.00 was followed with Current 1.10. Reportedly, this was still for Windows 2.
In 1991 IBM released "IBM Current-Officevision", a personal information manager based on this for use with their mainframe products.
In 1992 Current was acquired by Jenson-Jones (later Commence Corporation), the original authors of this software, as IBM closed their desktop software division. Jenson-Jones revamped the software and released it under the name "Commence 1.0".
In 1993 Commence 1.0 was followed up by "Commence 2.0".
This archive contains four 5.25" 1.2mb floppy disk images.
To install with the runtime, run "setup" from the first disk. To install on an existing Windows 2.x system, run "install" from disk 4.
When it asks for a serial number, any 6-digit number should suffice.
