Microsoft QuickBasic, not to be confused with the lesser QBasic, was a Basic interpreter and compiler product loosely based on GW-Basic. Version 2.0 for DOS and later included an Integrated Development Environment. Microsoft also produced QuickPascal and QuickC with similar integrated environments.
QuickBASIC was positioned as an entry level for their BASIC Professional Development System, and competed against language products targeted at hobbyists, such as those from Borland.
Wanted: Manual scans.
Version 1.0 for DOS, released in 1985, does not have an integrated editor, and was considered rather buggy.
QuickBasic 1.0 was just the old BASCOM compiler relabeled. The compiler was still named BASCOM.EXE, and came on one 360k 5.25" diskette. Disk is labeled: Program Disk D-226, 007-114-002, 007114.100. Manual rear labeled 0785 Part No. 007-114-001. System requirements are 256K memory, DOS 2.0 or higher, and one double sided disk drive.
1.01 - Released January 1986. Corrects problems known in Version 1.00. No major enhancements. Few copies of Version 1.01 were shipped due to a problem discovered with compiling medium-sized programs.
1.02 - 5.25" version released February 1986. 3.5" version was released on 05/07/86. Corrects problems known in Version 1.01. No major enhancements.
