Icon Hear-It, released in 1992 from Moon Valley Software, is a shell enhancement for Windows 3.0 and 3.1 that adds sound effects to all kinds of desktop and Program Manager actions. It features the ability to change the Program Manager program group icons, animated cursors and icons, and includes a talking calculator, clock, and solitaire game. It includes a PC speaker driver for those without a sound card.
The primary purpose of this program was to give users of new sound cards something to listen to, as few programs at the time made use of sound. Because application sound effects were quite new, many of the sounds were over-the-top and got annoying very quickly.
It competed with Wired for Sound Pro, and similar sound utilities. Moon Valley Software also released a similar, but quieter, tool called Icon Do-It.
This can be used with Windows 3.0, 3.0 MME, or 3.1. If there is no sound card driver present, it will install a PC-Speaker driver.
